Treatments for sexual dysfunction

How is sexual dysfunction relevant to schizophrenia?

One side effect of some antipsychotic medications is sexual dysfunction. Sexual dysfunction can take many forms, affecting both men and women, and can have far-reaching implications on self-esteem, quality of life, and relationships. It also considerably reduces medication compliance. Adjunct medications prescribed to treat such side effects increases adherence to antipsychotic medications, which can reduce the risk of psychotic relapse.

What is the evidence on adjunctive therapies for sexual dysfunction?
